PLAC system
By using processors technology instead of a relay one, it guarantees the same performances in terms of safety and functionality of the systems currently in operation in Italy, in compliance with and in application of the applicable principles, in the first stage, for single track lines.
It includes all devices to command and control the railway entities of a PL complex, maximum 4 included in 2000m protected by the same signal, with a maximum configuration of interfaced entities established in Generic Application. The PLAC system is compliant with RFI’s SRS «AG-PL».
In addition to understanding the performance of current PLL systems, PLAC introduces innovative features that improve impact and intrusiveness in rail and road traffic.
Based on the fundamental concepts of simplification and standardization of engineering solutions, EGM has developed a system that is flexible, scalable and modular according to the characteristics of the PL or PL complex to be controlled.
The product is developed through the use of electronic technology involving both proprietary and COTS hardware and software components. It has an open architecture towards the implementation of further applications.
The PLAC system is physically structured as a multi-computer system connected to each other via an Ethernet network.
The functional blocks that make up the generic PLAC product are:
- EGM Central Unit (UC-EGM_PLAC or UC-PLAC) has a safety integrity level of SIL4 on which the railway logic is centralised.
- Ente Controllers (CE) has field interfaces with a safety integrity level of SIL4.
- Data Collection Subsystem (SRD) has functions for managing diagnostic information and remoting it to a higher diagnostic level in SIL0
- Transmission and communication subsystem has for data exchange over the Ethernet network, with safety integrity level SIL0.
- Power supply
- Application Process
- Railway authorities
